Here are the basic rules and duties of the wingman/wingwoman. I have tried to translate so that it applies to both male and female scenarios.

1. He/She must be decent-looking but not too attractive, or the lead will end up being the wing.
   
2. He/She must be sociable and able to maneuver conversation, help or back off, depending on how the lead is doing. It helps if they can gather intelligence early in the evening, sense whether their buddy has a chance and impart that wisdom privately before the offensive starts.
   
3. If the objective of said military operation turns out to be bad (example: beautiful, but he/she has a terrible laugh or he/she is twitchy), the wingman/wingwoman must be willing to “fall on the grenade”. This is the term for taking over the conversation while the lead moves on to another prospect.
   
4. They must be brave enough to approach the clique or gaggle of friends.
   
5. He/She can never hit on the Flight Leaders established target.
   
6. If you are not willing to make the ultimate sacrafice, do not ask or expect others to.
   
7. Hiroshima and Nagasaki - To date the only two, so remember, that is all you get.  Period.
